ULTRAVIOLET PROTECTION FACTOR (UPF)
UPF is the rating system used for sun protective apparel, such as the items built into the CoolWave lineup of summer fishing apparel. It is similar to SPF (Sun Protection Factor), the rating system used for sunscreen products. SPF pertains only to a sunscreen's effectiveness against UVB rays, considered to be the more damaging type of light. UPF rating, however, gauges a fabric's effectiveness against both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) light.
Sun protection built into your fishing apparel is key to protecting the long term health of your skin year after year when spending extensive time fishing in the sun. Everything in the CoolWave collection, from pants to sun shirts and hoodies, and even gloves and facemasks is built with high UPF ratings.
